Sun Records was founded by Sam Phillips in Memphis, Tennessee in 1952 and recorded many influential rock and roll, country, and blues artists, such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis. The label was sold to Mercury Records in 1969 and is now owned by Primary Wave, which acquired it in 2021.
