John Daido Loori (June 14, 1931 – October 9, 2009) [1] was a Zen Buddhist rōshi who served as the abbot of Zen Mountain Monastery and was the founder of the Mountains and Rivers Order and CEO of Dharma Communications.
Zen Mountain Monastery (or, Doshinji, meaning Temple of the Way of Reality) is a Zen Buddhist monastery and training center on a 220-acre (0.89 km 2) [4] forested property in the Catskill Mountains in Mount Tremper, New York.
This was made apparent by the 2015 ZMM sex scandal, and betrayal of the group, by the 2cnd Abbot of ZMM. As is public knowledge, this is one of a staggering number of scandals that have rocked the Zen community at large in the past decades.
