8 sie 2021 · If it is red it is likely defective. If the power brick checks out okay, see if you can get a secondary error code out of the console. You should be able to do this by holding the controller sync button and then hitting the eject button. You can do this 4 times to get 4 numbers.

The very next day it would no longer work, solid red light on the console. After reading about this problem on the Microsoft support pages, they seem to suggest it is a faulty power supply -- which to me sounds right because why else would the console start working again, but only for a day.
