Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap. The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past.
GatherMate2 is an addon to collect and track herbs, mines, fishing pools, gas clouds, archaelogy finds and treasures, and displays them on the world map and the mini map. This is the Retail version of GatherMate2, the version for WoW Classic can be found here.

19 lis 2008 · I can't speak about Gatherer as I haven't used in years, but I do know that GatherMate2 is updated to add icons for even the newest items found on Argus. Pick some Astral Glory or Empyrium and you will see the node circles appear on your world and mini maps.
From what it looks like Gathermate is more recently updated and of course Gathermate_Data is up-to-date as of 4 days ago.
