Winchester College is an English public school (a long-established fee-charging boarding school for pupils aged 13–18) with some provision for day attendees, in Winchester, Hampshire, England. It was founded by William of Wykeham in 1382 as a feeder school for New College, Oxford, and has existed in its present location ever since.
We welcome pupils to our Sixth Form to study alongside other ambitious girls and boys and to make the most of everything Winchester has to offer. Pupils benefit from expert teaching and small class sizes across our A Level curriculum, and enjoy sports, music, arts and a wide range of extra-curricular activities, in a beautiful environment.
Winchester College, founded by William of Wykeham in 1382, is one of the world’s most famous and distinguished schools and a heritage site of international significance.
Winchester College is a full boarding school, with day places available in the Sixth Form only. We offer full boarding for many contemporary reasons, not tradition alone. Boarding at Winchester gives pupils an unmatched experience of focused learning and friendship.
Uniquely and historically, Winchester is not a centralised school, but rather more a collection of cooperative constituent communities in close proximity to each other and the main campus. Like a family home, each House feels intimate and personal, but is also professional.
Winchester College is located in the surrounds of England’s Anglo-Saxon capital. Its medieval architecture is well preserved within the original grounds, which overlook the South Downs National Park and the River Itchen.
