23 kwi 2018 · The MARS mod on the Icom 7300 opens up continuous transmit from about 1MHz to 74.8Mhz. Its real handy for bench testing stuff but you have to be careful when plugged into an antenna. There are still some US Govt organizations that allow modified amateur transceivers on NTIA frequencies.

MARS modifications enable out-of-band transmit capabilities on the subject radio. If you are an authorized MARS-affiliated operator, and utilize the expanded transmit capabilities per that authorization in the course of performing MARS activations, you are fine.
11 paź 2011 · On another board that I frequent, a member began a thread discussing the process that's required to modify a dual band Yaesu radio that I own to transmit out of band. This is apparently known as the MARS/CAP mod. What benefit is achieved by performing the modification? When would the ability be useful?

14 kwi 2024 · I've done MARS mods on the IC-7100, 7200 and 7300, Yaesu FT-891, the 991 and the Elecraft KX2. The process differs from manufacturer to manufacturer. Icom's process is the most destructive - you have to carefully remove very small diode(s) from one of the boards in the radio.
27 lis 2020 · I think there is a large group of radio enthusiast who refer to the 'MARS/CAP Mod' simply to mean removing limits of the TX range set in the radio. Sometimes this involves de-soldering a component, installing a jumper, changing firmware settings, or installing 3rd party firmware.
I see that Giga Parts has an option to add the MARS/CAP MOD for each radio. The recommended mod is level 4 for the Icom and Level 5 for the Yaesu. My question is, do these mods open up the 70CM band as well as HF?
