18 lut 2024 · I have two rifles with barrel bands and the remaining collection have not. The FTP900 has the most complex support system ( obviously designed like it is, for a reason) but some completely remove it, supposedly without detriment. The S510 TR has a weird Shroud band, and if you breath on it (I’m exaggerating) POI moves.
31 lip 2018 · This issue has been discussed many times at rimfire central. Some 10/22s shoot better with the barrel band off, some shoot better with it on, and in some cases it makes no difference. There seems to be no uniform consensus on whether free-floating the barrel helps either.
18 lut 2024 · Irrespective of all the technical bumf spouted about barrel bands, it is really quite simple. If your gun goes off zero from a small knock to the barrel it needs a barrel band, period.

Each gun is different, but you can notice a significant improvement in accuracy by removing the band and ensuring the barrel is free floated, notice that basically everyone leaves the band off when putting a replacement stock on a 10/22? That's why.
