PEGI provides age classifications for video games in 38 European countries. The age rating confirms that the game content is appropriate for players of certain age. The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) is a North American rating system for video games that is used within the United States, Canada, and Mexico (digital only). It was established in September 1st, 1994 after the senate hearing about violence in video games (see #History).
