This summary report encapsulates the consolidated data from the first National Report on the Status of Women in Pakistan in 2023, providing a snapshot of the situation of women on key themes related to Gender Equality and Women Empowerment.
Globally, some progress on women’s rights has been achieved. In Pakistan, 18.3% of women aged 20–24 years old who were married or in a union before age 18. However, work still needs to be done in Pakistan to achieve gender equality.
In response to the Women, Peace and Security Agenda, guided by 10 UN Security Council resolutions, UN Women Pakistan has identified the following areas where integrating a gender perspective can best strengthen responses to building social cohesion, and support the implementation of the WPS agenda:
18 lis 2022 · Catastrophic flooding in Pakistan that began in mid-2022 has killed over 1,500 people, displaced nearly 8 million, and left countless more in areas still submerged and lacking shelter, food, clean water and medicine. Amid the disaster, women and girls are facing additional risks to their safety.
UN Women Pakistan works with a diverse range of partners to ensure that women and girls benefit from an enabling environment where they are empowered and reach their fullest potential; and one in which their fundamental, social, economic, cultural, and political rights are fully protected and upheld.
