Thomas Michael Izzo [1] (/ ˈ ɪ z oʊ /, Italian pronunciation:); born January 30, 1955) is an American college basketball coach who has been the head coach at Michigan State University since 1995. [2] On April 4, 2016, Izzo was elected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. [3]
In 29 seasons, Izzo has returned Michigan State to national prominence, placed his name in the NCAA record books and become a leader among college basketball coaches. Izzo’s 707 wins are the fourth-most by any coach in his first 29 seasons in the history of college basketball.
