5 dni temu · About Us. The Chanute Tribune began as a 4-column, 4-page publication founded by G.M. Dewey on April 8, 1892. H.P. Hutton was editor. Eight years later, Sept. 6, 1900, Dewey sold it to J.M. Cavaness, who was succeeded by his sons, Herbert and Wilfred, three years later.

Chanute (/ ʃ ə ˈ n uː t /) is a city in Neosho County, Kansas, United States. [1] Founded on January 1, 1873, it was named after railroad engineer and aviation pioneer Octave Chanute. [6] [7] As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 8,722. [4] [5] Chanute is home of Neosho County Community College.
The Chanute Tribune was established April 8, 1892, by George M. Dewey. It had always been published as a republican paper, and is now both a daily and weekly and had a large circulation and influence over Neosho and surrounding counties.
