29 cze 2021 · Staphylococcus aureus is a high-priority pathogen causing severe infections with high morbidity and mortality worldwide. Many S. aureus strains are methicillin-resistant (MRSA) or even...
23 mar 2006 · Genome-scale investigation of allelic variation, population genetics, and host interactions has provided answers to long-standing controversies, such as the evolution of methicillin-resistant strains of S. aureus and the emergence of TSS, and provided substrates for new testable hypotheses.
4 lut 2021 · We identified clusters of strains within species based on proteins associated to similar biological processes. We built Random Forest classifiers that predicted the zoonotic potential. Furthermore, we identified shared attributes between of Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes that allow them to cause necrotizing fasciitis. Conclusions.
5 mar 2024 · Here, we longitudinally monitored global trends in antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) of 586 S. aureus strains, isolated between 1884 and 2022. The ARGs in S. aureus exhibited a significant increase over time (P < 0.0001). Mobile genetic elements play a crucial role in the transfer of ARGs in S. aureus strains.
S. aureus strains are methicillin-resistant (MRSA) or even multi-drug resistant. It is one of the most successful and prominent modern pathogens. An effective fight against S. aureus...
Some strains of streptococci show a predilection for the respiratory tract; others, for the skin. Generally, streptococcal isolates from the pharynx and respiratory tract do not cause skin infections.
13 kwi 2017 · In one study, 54% of S. aureus strains were resistant to trimethoprim and 94% of these strains carried dfrG. Moreover, European travellers returning from these regions and seeking treatment for SSSTIs are frequently infected by strains that are resistant to trimethoprim and carry DfrG.
