1 lis 2014 · I read somewhere that the "U" in the serial number (other than on the P226 where it was always the model prefix code) was added to designate "United States" on US made frames. It appears in the serial numbers of the more recent years of P229 and 239. There may American-made frames without the U, but I think only US frames have it.

7 mar 2012 · If it came in a factory box, there should be a date sticker on the end of the box along with the model and serial number stickers. Sig started converting to the new version of 229 late 2010. I've read about some of the issues with the new 229s.

31 maj 2006 · A P229 should not have a traditional date code. Normally the P292 does not have German proof marks or a date code. You need to look at the frame under the muzzle of the gun for the proof marks and date code.
