We offer Unsalted Native dirt dug right at our mine with nothing added for an authentic gem hunting experience!!! Plus we offer a variety of crafted buckets where you’re guaranteed to find genuine rough gem stones and rocks, which we call “Rainbow buckets”.
Sheffield Gem Mine is one of the oldest native ruby mines that remain in operation in the Cowee Valley. The area was once mined by renowned jewelry crafter Tiffany and Co. For more than 60 years, Sheffield Mine has been producing rubies and sapphires that are still abundant.
We are about 16 minutes drive from downtown Franklin, in the beautiful and scenic Cowee Valley, which is original Native American Land.
