Houck Field was built in 1930 at a cost of $150,000 and remains a beautiful and picturesque stadium today. The dedication game pitted Southeast and Southern Illinois University from nearby Carbondale, Ill., on Oct. 3, 1930.
Houck Stadium is an 11,015-seat multi-purpose stadium in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. It opened in 1930 and was named after famous Missouri resident Louis Houck. Today it is home to the Southeast Missouri State University Redhawks football team and women's soccer team.
The team competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and are members of the Ohio Valley Conference. The school's first football team was fielded in 1902. The team plays its home games at the 11,015-seat Houck Stadium. They are coached by Tom Matukewicz.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – On September 24, 2021, the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Governors approved action to begin the first phase of construction for a new Houck Field. 9 wrz 2023 · Brady Barke, vice president for Intercollegiate Athletics, said fans will notice several things about the new Houck. Four thousand seats will bring the stadium’s total capacity to 8,000. Concession areas will also feature new items. A picture of the digital scoreboard is shown on Tuesday, Aug. 15.
2 mar 2022 · On September 1, 2021, we shared with you our intent to renovate Houck Field. Shortly thereafter, we shared plans with the Board of Governors for a new dual role, multi-use complex at the Houck field site, which would include a new stadium.
