Justices of the Peace are citizens appointed by Order in Council to carry out specific administrative and judicial functions of the Provincial Court. There are approximately 150 Justices of the Peace located in communities throughout the province.
Chief Justice Robert W. Leurer was named Chief Justice of Saskatchewan in October 2023. Chief Justice Leurer was elevated to the Court of Appeal for Saskatchewan in 2018, after being appointed to the Court of Queen’s Bench for Saskatchewan in 2017.
Chief Judge Metivier was appointed to the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan on April 18, 2013. On March 1, 2021, she became the Chief Judge. She has a special interest in the intersection of mental health and the justice system and currently serves as Chairperson of the Saskatchewan Review Board.
The Saskatchewan Court of Appeal is the highest court in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. There are 8 official judicial positions, including the Chief Justice, who make up the Court of Appeal.
