17 lut 2019 · There are more than 8,000 Sanasa societies – local microfinance cooperatives – spread over Sri Lanka’s villages with about one million members. The societies together with their peak bank and insurance agency have assets of more than one billion Australian dollars.
SDB bank’s earliest form was conceived in response to the need displayed by the SANASA Federation, for an alternative banking partner and primary credit institution to cater to the financial needs of its sizeable network of island-wide co-operative societies.
