21 mar 2007 · The inside of one of the rims is badly rusted. I used a needle scaler which did a good job at removing the rust. The needle scaler didn't knock any holes through the metal, but the surface is rough and pitted. These are the spin-out rims, and would be very costly to replace.
11 lip 2004 · To fix the rusted spot, buy some 3/16 flat bar at the hardware store in several widths. More than likely the rusted out spot is by the valve stem since they often leak fluid there. That means there might be several "steps" in the rim as it goes in profile from outside to inside.
29 sty 2002 · A rusted out valve stem hole on a tractor wheel, especially a relatively new wheel, is usually the first sign that the inner tube has sprung a leak and the calcium has begun to "digest" the wheel. If this is the case, you should really replace the wheel for safety sake since the rest of the rim will also be badly corroded on the inside.
