Ruggles Mine is an open-pit mine that was turned into a tourist attraction. It has been closed since 2016. We are excited to announce that on July 19, 2023, the property was purchased with the intention of re-opening this famous mineral collecting locality.

Ruggles Mine is an open-pit mine in New Hampshire that was started by Sam Ruggles in 1805 and produced mica, feldspar and beryl. It was closed in 1960s but reopened as a tourist attraction in 1963 and is now owned by Joe Bodge.
21 cze 2024 · Ruggles Mine is the oldest mica mine in the country and offers mineral collecting and camping. It was closed for five years before reopening in June 2024 under new owners with mining experience.

We officially opened to the public on June 21, 2024. Currently open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for the 2024 season. We are scheduling group trips to Ruggles Mine for EFMLS-affiliated Gem and Mineral Clubs throughout New England and beyond.
