23 mar 2021 · Maxillary sinusitis is an acute or chronic inflammation of the maxillary sinus. It is often due to direct extension of dental infection but also originates from infectious diseases due to bacteria, viruses, or fungi such as common cold, influenza, and exanthematous diseases.
Maxillary sinusitis is inflammation of the maxillary sinuses. The symptoms of sinusitis are headache, usually near the involved sinus, and foul-smelling nasal or pharyngeal discharge, possibly with some systemic signs of infection such as fever and weakness.
An infection, growths in the sinuses, called nasal polyps, or swelling of the lining of the sinuses can cause chronic sinusitis. Symptoms might include a blocked or stuffy nose that makes it hard to breathe through the nose and pain and swelling around the eyes, cheeks, nose or forehead.
