24 gru 2008 · How to make Vista use less RAM? Ok here's the deal... I've had this computer since October 17, 2008. RAM was juicy until the passed few days. I began to notice nearly ALL the time my OS has been using up a total of 75% to 86% of RAM. It does reflect on performance. Also the Windows Task Manager says that I've got about 65 Processes running.
6 kwi 2007 · To free up and conserve memory, reduce RAM usage and CPU resources, some of these services can be stopped and disabled. By turning off some background processes, Windows Vista can be optimized to be more responsive and speed up, especially in system with lesser memory.
I have a Vista-based laptop with 1 GB of RAM (I know I should get more!) that runs very slowly. The problem seems to be that the Physical Memory Usage History graph in Task Manager continually shows nearly maxed out - typically at 90% or higher.
Is it possible I am missing something that's hogging memory and causing it to run slowly? The only steps I've taken so far is to disable unused startup items, disabled all visual effects (really, this computer looks like 1998...), and run disk cleanup (she's only using a third of her 150 GB).
