The urban ranger's swift action greater invisibility is fun, but it comes in at 17th level and around then most serious enemies can detect invisible one way or another. Hide in plain sight is more reliable (though not entirely) against endgame enemies.
Ranger with a ranged weapon focusing on ranged combat style is a beast. Get leopard/wolf as a pet and dip some ranger/rogue/vivi/arcane archer if you like. Or go two weapon style, get a shield and shield bash route.

Many rangers are loners, but some choose to use their familiarity with the land to guide others safely through the wilderness. The guide forgoes a favored enemy to focus on the task or foe at hand, and can pass his knowledge and luck on to his charges.
Some rangers believe civilization wears down the soul, but still needs to be protected from wild creatures. Others say nature needs to be protected from the greedy, who wish to tame its beauty and plunder its treasures.
