31 mar 2022 · The Rainbow Family's massive gathering in the northern Colorado mountains neared the halfway point Tuesday with an estimated 10,000 people camped in the Routt National Forest.
In July 1973 near Pass Creek in Wyoming's Shoshone National Forest, the Rainbow Family of Living Light encamped for their second annual gathering. A local observer described the camp of an estimated 2,000 celebrants as "lean-tos everywhere....colorful costumes intermingled with nude bodies scattered over the 80-100 acre forest."

The first Rainbow Gathering of the Tribes was a four-day event in Colorado in July 1972.
