The government apparatus in the State of Qatar consists of the Council of Ministers, ministries, government institutions, and a number of other government agencies. The Shura Council assumes the Legislative Authority, whereas the courts of law assume the Judicial Authority as indicated in the constitution.
The political system of Qatar runs under an authoritarian [1] [2] semi-constitutional monarchy with the emir as head of state and chief executive, and the prime minister as the head of government. Under the Constitution of Qatar , the partially-elected Consultative Assembly has a limited ability to reject legislation and dismiss ministers.
Government. Qatar is governed as a constitutional hereditary monarchy. Language. Arabic is the official language; English is also widely spoken. Local Time. Qatar operates on GMT +3 hours, with no daylight saving time adjustments.
