Ellipsoid volume = L x W x H x π 6. "Bullet" (cylinder + half ellipsoid) volume = L x W x H x 5π 24. The "bullet" volume may be a better representation of prostate volume for prostate glands smaller than 55 mL.

Prostate volume (bullet) = cm 3. Prostatic volume may be measured by transrectal or transabdominal ultrasound. Traditionally, the prostate has been assumed to be an ellipsoid with V = 4 ⁄ 3 π (a ⁄ 2) (b ⁄ 2) (c ⁄ 2) where a, b and c are the dimensions that you would measure on ultrasound.
This Prostate Volume Calculator is designed to estimate a man’s prostate volume as well as the PSA density (* optional) in case the PSA level is known. The latter is an important indicator of prostate cancer in patients with a mildly elevated PSA.
Formula of Ellipsoid Volume = L * W * H * ∏ /6. Formula of Bullet Volume = L * W * H * 5∏ /24. Bullet volume is considered better representation of Prostate gland volume.
17 paź 2024 · Free & interactive prostate volume and PSA density calculator based on CT, MRI, & US measurements using bullet and ellipsoid formulas.
Calculation by using the ellipsoid formula (length x width x height × π/6). π/6 is rounded to 0.52. Universal PSA density cut-off values are not established. Suggested values are mostly around 0.08 to 0.15, depending on e.g. psa-value itself and clinical considerations.
This formula calculates total volume by multiplying largest anteroposterior, transverse, and cephalocaudal diameters by multiplying coefficient p/6 and is widely used within ultrasound equipment as it shows good correlation with actual prostate volume.
