Prentis Park is a city park in Vermillion, South Dakota. It is a rectangular 20-acre (8.1 ha) park located on the block bounded by Plum Street, Main Street, Clark Street, and Prentis Avenue. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. [1]

The swimming pool is located in Prentis Park. The Prentis Plunge is home to: Open-swims; Private parties; Cardboard Boat Regatta ; Swim team practices; United Way / Red Cross Swim Lessons; and other special events. The water is heated and maintained at approximately 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

This year, the park will turn 100 years old, and Vermillion resident and historian Evelyn Schlenker is capturing its unique history in a book to be published this spring in conjunction with the park’s centennial.

Last year, there were still so many unknowns about the virus that the Vermillion City Council and Parks and Recreation Director Jim Goblirsch agreed it would be best to keep the city aquatic center closed.
