Florida Western and Northern railroad reached Polk City on January 24, 1925 on its maiden run to Palm Beach. Construction of a 95 car passing track was made necessary after January 29, 1927 when a change in schedule made the two Orange Blossom Specials meet at Polk City each afternoon.
