Welcome to DEP's Oil and Gas Mapping Website. This interactive website shows the location of both conventional and unconventional oil and gas wells, including producing and non-producing wells, based on information from permit applications, authorization requests and operator submitted reports.
DEP's 2022 Oil and Gas Annual Report is now available. Specifically, this report includes data and trends related to DEP's permitting and inspection programs. Also highlighted in the report are key facts and a glimpse of DEP during 2023.
Oil and gas operators drilled a total of 790 oil and gas wells in Pennsylvania in 2022. These wells included 574 unconventional gas wells and 216 conventional wells. DEP developed an interactive GIS mapping tool that can be used to identify oil and gas wells that are located in Pennsylvania.
