Oviedo (en asturiano: Uviéu) es una ciudad española, capital del Principado de Asturias. [9] Su origen se remonta a la Alta Edad Media —siglo VIII —, o incluso a antes, denominada en origen Ovetum. [10] La ciudad es la capital del concejo homónimo (el equivalente asturiano del municipio) y forma parte de la parroquia de Oviedo.
