Vintage KERR 64oz Self sealing Mason Canning Jar (Half Gallon)- Reg Mouth No Lid
Kerr’s self-sealing mason jars were designed to be used with his own metal lids and rubber rings. The jars were made of glass with a zinc screw-on lid. The rubber ring fit into a groove on the underside of the lid and sealed the jar when it was screwed shut.

The Self-sealing jar by Kerr existed at two different times in history. One is pre-World War II (1904-1945), while the other is post-World War II (1946- mid1980). This jar has a rubber lid that melts under heat, thus creating a seal.
