With the advent of Twitter, hash or hashtag (named for the act of tagging with a hash sign) has become very popular in North America, too.

27 cze 2015 · The only names I've heard them called is the less-than sign and the greater-than sign, but those names seem rather informal and apply only to their use in math. The symbols are used in other contexts as well, so it seems they would have less specific names.
