Oxygen sensors allow the clinician to know how much oxygen is being delivered to the patient during ventilation, and therefore prevent hypoxia, hypoxemia or oxygen toxicity. An oxygen sensor is one of those “when you need it to work, it should work” kind of devices.
Intended use: Nuova medical oxygen sensors are intended to be used in in medical devices such as anesthesia machines, ventilators, oxygen monitors and analyzers, incubators etc. to measure oxygen concentrations in breathing gas mixtures.
Product specifications. In air (20.9% O2) at 25°C and 1 atm. At a constant temperature, pressure, and humidity < 1% volume O2 when calibrated at 100%. For optimal performance at higher oxygen levels, calibrate with 100% oxygen.
O2 Flow Control. Flow sensing technologies include thermal mass flow and delta pressure. O2 flow measurement helps ensure that the patient is receiving the appropriate amount of oxygen to maintain adequate oxygenation and support their respiratory system.
For either device type the air composition may be adjusted by adding oxygen and removing carbon dioxides to help increase the blood oxygen level. For patients that can breathe unassisted but have a low level of blood oxygen, an oxygen concentrator provides a beneficial oxygen boost.
