The Sugar Mountain summit at almost 5,300 feet elevation averages 78 inches of natural powder each season, making it one of the snowiest spots in North Carolina. Ski slopes typically open by Thanksgiving thanks to an extensive snow-making system.

Featuring 125 acres of skiable terrain, Sugar Mountain's 21 slopes are served by eight chair lifts and range from beginner to expert in level, with 40 percent of the slopes being beginner-friendly. The longest run is 1.5 miles, and 15 slopes are lit for night skiing and snowboarding.
Sugar Mountain offers 100% snowmaking coverage and night skiing/snowboarding across 100 acres and 15 trails. Other winter activities include tubing, ice skating and snowshoeing. Lodging options at Sugar Mountain include rooms, condos and homes at the Village of Sugar Mountain.
