OMNY is the easiest, most flexible way to pay your subway or bus fare. You don't have to sign up or download an app; simply use your contactless credit or debit card, smartphone, wearable device, or OMNY card to tap and go. OMNY currently supports full-fare and Reduced-Fare pay-per-ride options.

As of 2024, most bus routes, the subway, the Staten Island Railway, and the Roosevelt Island Tramway charge a $2.90 fare; a higher fare is charged for ferries, express buses, and the AirTrain JFK.
Prices. The price of a single ticket on the New York subway is US$ 2.90. If you plan to use public transport frequently, we recommend paying with OMNY, as from the 12th trip onwards the weekly fare will be US$ 34.80. Until the end of 2024, you can still use the MetroCard, which is valid for the subway and buses.
Use a smart phone (with digital wallet enabled), a wearable, or a contactless credit or debit card to pay your fare at subway turnstiles, AutoGates, and onboard buses (including Select Bus Service). Simply tap one of them on the OMNY reader.
New York MetroCard prices. A single ride is $2.90 and tickets are sold at vending machines. A 7-day MetroCard costs $34.00 and is a popular New York subway pass option. Some contactless bank cards can tap on and off through the OMNY system.
