Bryan is a male chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) who arrived at Monkey World on 7/12/06 and we estimate that he was born during 2003. He was smuggled from the wild in Africa, through Cuba, and then onto Mexico where he was purchased by a beach photographer.
Bart is a male chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) who was born at the park on 17/07/07. His birth was planned as we allow one baby every 5+ years in our mixed sex groups. Chimpanzee infants play an important part in chimp society and are cherished and well protected by the other chimps. Sadly, Bart lost his mother when he was just six years old.
The Bachelor Chimpanzee Group is one of the four chimpanzee groups at Monkey World. It was formed in 1996 and consists of male chimpanzees that could not fit in with the other chimpanzee groups.
On 13 July 1987, Monkey World's first chimpanzees Paddy (d. 2016), Busta, Jimmy (d. 2021), Micky, Sammy (d.2022), Taffy (d. 1989), Beth, Cindy and Zoe (d.2021) arrived at the park. In April 1998, Monkey World rescued a young female chimpanzee named Trudy, who had been filmed being beaten by Mary Chipperfield. [ 4 ]
Trudy is a female chimpanzee. She is a member of Hananya's Group. Trudy was originally owned by Chipperfield Circus along with several other chimps including her half-brother Teddy (who later lived in Europe). She was beaten by the circus's then owner Mary Chipperfield.
Zoe was a female Chimpanzee. She was a member of Bart's Group before her death in 2021. Zoe was wild born before being smuggled into Spain where she was used as a beach photographer's prop.
