8 kwi 2016 · How to Format the Author’s Name in an MLA 8th Edition Citation: The author’s name is generally the first piece of information included in an MLA 8th edition citation. Start with the author’s last name, follow it with a comma, and add the rest of the author’s name exactly as it appears on the source.
