Mescalero or Mescalero Apache (Mescalero-Chiricahua: Naa'dahéńdé) is an Apache tribe of Southern Athabaskan–speaking Native Americans. The tribe is federally recognized as the Mescalero Apache Tribe of the Mescalero Apache Reservation, located in south-central New Mexico.
The Mescalero roamed freely throughout the Southwest including Texas, Arizona, Chihuahua, México and Sonora, México. Today, three sub-tribes, Mescalero, Lipan and Chiricahua, make up the Mescalero Apache Tribe. We live on this reservation of 463,000 acres of what once was the heartland of our people’s aboriginal homelands.
29 wrz 2020 · Others, mainly the Lipans and Mescaleros, fled southward into Central Texas as well as into northern Mexico. There, they collided with the Spanish, who were advancing northward. The Spanish had earlier aided the Tejas Indians of East Texas in their raids against the Apaches.

Mescalero, tribe of the Eastern Apache division of North American Indians. Their name is taken from the mescal (peyote) cactus (Lophophora williamsii), which provided fibre, food, and drink to these predominantly foraging people. Before colonization the Mescalero lived in what are now south-central.
