9 lut 2024 · History of the County. McCreary county was formed in 1912 from Whitley, Wayne, and Pulaski County. The County was Named for Governor James B. McCreary (from 1875 to 1879.) About the Governor. It became Kentucky's one hundred twentieth, and final county in order of formation.
