The Franklin County Probate Court issues marriage licenses to residents of Franklin County, Ohio who are planning to marry in the state of Ohio. Licenses may also be issued to out-of-state residents who plan to marry in Franklin County, Ohio.

Marriage License Index. Marriage Records ARE available on-line from January 3, 1995. Marriage records from 1803 through 1994 ARE available at the Probate Court. All records provided through the case search are current as of the previous day's date.
If you wish to have a civil wedding, you must submit to the civil registry office (USC) a statement which confirms there are no objections to a proposed marriage and set a wedding date. You can also decide if the wedding ceremony will take place inside or outside the office, e.g. outdoors.

Marriage and divorce records are NOT maintained by the Bureau of Vital Statistics. Certified copies of marriage licenses and divorce decrees can only be obtained from the county where the event was recorded.
