Adopt A Muskox. Despite their name, muskox are members of the goat family. They’re an ancient species of arctic mammal with a thick outer coat consisting of long (up to 36 inches) guard hairs that cover a dense underfur known as qiviut. Qiviut is considered to be one of the warmest materials in the world.

20 cze 2017 · Musk ox were reintroduced to Alaska in the 1930s, after the state’s native population was extirpated in the 19th century, most likely from hunting. Today, their qiviut is the second most expensive fiber in the world, with spun yarn and knit goods selling for hundreds of dollars.

The muskox (Ovibos moschatus) [ a ][ b ] is a hoofed mammal of the family Bovidae. [ 8 ] . Native to the Arctic, it is noted for its thick coat and for the strong odor emitted by males during the seasonal rut, from which its name derives. This musky odor has the effect of attracting females during mating season.
