My art is a forum for me to express ideas that are in my consciousness. Images will not leave my mind until I explore them on canvas. My platform for communication is with paintbrush and canvas. As an artist, I want to paint something that matters and is relevant to contemporary issues.
Studio Incamminati is a private school for Contemporary Realist Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was founded by Nelson Shanks and his wife, Leona Shanks in 2002 and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. [1]
Leona Shanks, a Studio Incamminati instructor, was awarded First Place in juried competition of Inspiring Figures: American Women and Figurative Art. Her work also was featured in the accompanying exhibition at the Butler Institute of American Art.
