If your child is receiving CalWORKs benefits, we are required by law to open a case. You do not need to apply for child support services and there is no cost to you. If your child is not currently receiving aid, you may open a case with our office by submitting an application for services.
In July 2001, the Los Angeles County Child Support Services Department (CSSD) was established as an independent county department whose responsibility is to manage the child support program in Los Angeles County.
In Louisiana, the program is administered by the Department of Children & Family Services, Child Support Enforcement Section. This program places the responsibility for the support of children on their parents in an attempt to reduce the children's dependence on public assistance.
