In the summer of 2016, it was announced that Winterfest would once again return to Kings Island for the 2017 holiday season. Sister parks, Carowinds and Worlds of Fun will also be hosting Winterfest in 2017. This new version of Winterfest will be included free for Gold and Platinum pass holders.
