7 kwi 2021 · Red River Gorge in Kentucky is located in Daniel Boone National Forest, about an hour east of Lexington. Take I-64 East to Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway (exit 98) then continue to Slade (exit 33). To enter the gorge through Nada Tunnel, turn left onto KY-15 then right onto KY-77.
Maps can be obtained from the locations listed on the back of this brochure. The Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail (Trail #100) traverses the entire length of the Daniel Boone National Forest. Part of the Sheltowee Trace passes through the Red River Gorge.
The Red River Gorge is a canyon system on the Red River in east-central Kentucky, United States. Geologically it is part of the Pottsville Escarpment. The gorge lies within the Daniel Boone National Forest and was subsequently designated the Red River Gorge Geological Area, an area of around 29,000 acres (12,000 ha; 120 km 2; 45 sq mi). [1]
