The Karabiner 98 kurz (German: [kaʁaˈbiːnɐ ˌʔaxtʔʊntˈnɔʏntsɪç ˈkʊɐ̯ts]; ' carbine 98 short'), often abbreviated Karabiner 98k, Kar98k or K98k and also sometimes incorrectly referred to as a K98 (a K98 is a Polish carbine and copy of the Kar98a), is a bolt-action rifle chambered for the 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge.

PRVI Partisan is as close to the real stuff as it gets. All the American made ammo for it is pretty weak...but still shoots. For good accuracy try the Yugo M75. Most all of the surplus still available is Yugo, Romanian, or Turk. Turk is extremely hot 154-ish gr. stuff moving at 3k fps.

8 wrz 2016 · Derived from a melding the post-WWI Kar 98b and 1924 Standardmodell, it was about a half inch shorter than the Kar 98a, weighed about the same but was much more streamlined in appearance. The Kar 98k employed the side-mounted sling, caliber was also 7.92x57mm and the fore-end entirely reconfigured.

While the famous Karabiner was at the top of its class at the start of WWII, all bolt-actions were well on their way out as infantry weapons by the war’s end.
