The closest place to park during this time is Jacob Lake. The hike through the snow from Jacob Lake to the North Rim Campground is around 45 miles. Hikers, snowshoers, and cross-country skiers will need to remain off the closed road (per Superintendent's Compendium re: safety from snowplows) and forge a path through the snow.

However, there are SO many more amazing things to see and do in and around this little town, including hiking, climbing, watching wildlife, and swimming.
The campground is 44 miles north of Grand Canyon National Park's rustic and less populated North Rim - home to abundant wildlife, hiking trails, spruce-fir and Ponderosa pine forests and unparalleled views of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
From the North Rim, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the Grand Canyon and its stunning rock formations. They can also explore the nearby Kaibab National Forest, which boasts of diverse wildlife, hiking trails, and beautiful scenery.

An extra Vehicle Fee of $9.00 per vehicle, per night (space providing), will be collected on-site beginning with third vehicle.
Grand Canyon North Rim is located in northwest corner of Arizona, about 30 miles from Jacob Lake, Arizona and approximately 80 miles from Kanab, Utah and the state line. The North Rim does not have an airport and the only way to access the Park’s entrance is by car or motorcoach.
