Jacks River Falls is one of Georgia’s most remote waterfalls, crashing and tumbling over an enormous, rough-hewn rock outcrop into deep pools of water below. Jacks River Falls is located 9 miles north of the trailhead of the Jacks River Trail at Dally Gap.
Jack's River Falls was a glorious sight to see and it spoke with a thunderous roar. On the day of our visit, the clear waters were shallow enough to walk out onto the rivers granite bottom for the best head-on pics of the falls.
Jacks River Falls is the most popular scenic feature in the Cohutta Wilderness. After sustained rainfall, the falls are a roaring whitewater cascade eventually falling 80 feet into the valley below. During the hot summer droughts, the falls are still impressive due to its rock formations but offer more swimming holes than roaring water.

Located in the Cohutta Wilderness Area on the Jacks River, this beautiful waterfall is the most visited site in the Cohutta and is reached by a 4.5 mile trail through rugged wilderness. It is highly recommended that you get the USFS map of the Cohutta Wilderness and carry the 10 essentials.
Jacks River Falls, however, is different because it’s both longer and more untamed. At nine miles each way, you’ll need sufficient stamina and supplies to make it to the end. However, your reward is a spectacular view of one of the best waterfalls in the state.
This is a must hike! Gorgeous river and trail. There’s some blowdown on jacks River trail but it just adds to its rugged adventurous charm. Wear closed toe hiking sandal on jack river segment so you’re ready to lay down in the river and cool off at all the crossings.
