How to get to the trail head: From the 15 north or south, get off on the Poway Road Exit, and take Poway Road East all the way through Poway and up the hill until it ends at Highway 67. Directly across from that point will be the trail head for Iron Mountain.

The trail head is easily accessible, located right off Highway 67 in Poway, offers a reasonably challenging trek for the average person, and on a clear day has some amazing views of northeast San Diego County.
Iron Mountain near Poway is a great trail and a wonderful way for a morning or afternoon hike for both young and old in reasonable condition. It is about a 30 mile drive from La Jolla or downtown San Diego.
