After you take a certain amount of damage, CwDT will cast whatever active spells it's linked to, up to a certain required level. For example, a level 1 CwDT can only cast spells requiring level 38 or lower, so if your Immortal Call requires level 40, it won't cast.
If you can generate 5 endurance charges in ~2 seconds you should get (Divergent) Immortal Call with Enhance support. Otherwise go Vaal Molten Shell and manually use the Vaal version when you expect a damage spike.
It depends. If you have solid way of generating charges, like juggernaut or chieftain, or maybe even replica Farrul's fur then immortal call is a good option as it can give you 81.25% physical damage reduction and 35% elemental if you spend 5 charges on it. That reduction affects both hits and degens.
15 sty 2014 · So the idea is to maximize the immortality (for HC obviously) with Immortal Call and Block Mechanic. Plus there is a very nice synergy with Cast When Stunned, CI, Vaal Pact, Tempest Shield. The auras you should use is either Discipline or Purity of Elements.
