3 lut 2010 · Here are some differences: Margin is outer space of an element, while padding is inner space of an element. Margin is the space outside the border of an element, while padding is the space inside the border of it. Margin accepts the value of auto: margin: auto, but you can't set padding to auto.
16 cze 2009 · In the stylesheet you have. padding:0px; border:0px; margin:-2px; The "margin: -2px;" part is what is making your images 97px rather than 95px. Set it to "margin: 0px;" and the images appear normal. You then also need to add, margin: -2px; in order to keep your menu images aligned as you had them.

I want to ideally use HTML, and avoid CSS, but can use if needed. For example, I have an image with black padding, and want to add "CLICK HERE" to the bottom padding and similarly, to the top e.g. "Kittens"
27 mar 2015 · 1. We have an #inner with padding-top and padding-bottom. The content inside the div is centered. We have an image to with max-width:100% and max-height:100%. The image is responsive but it gets the height of the #inner with padding, and it's not centered. CSS. -moz-box-sizing: border-box; -webkit-box-sizing: border-box;

In case anyone else needs to add padding to something with background-image and background-size: contain or cover, I used the following which is a nice way of doing it. You can replace the border-width with 10% or 2vw or whatever you like.
This does not make the image respect the box padding on all 4 sides. It only repositions the image relative to the background-position. For example, if the padding is 5px and the image position is center left, this will move the image 5px from the left. It will not resize or crop the image by 5px on the top, bottom or right. –
